Kent Probation is Recognised for Excellence

Recognised for Excellence 4 star

Kent Probation Trust has achieved 4 stars in the EFQM Recognised for Excellence programme as a result of having demonstrated a marked improvement on its previous 3-star certification.

Kent Probation has around 475 staff working in nine probation offices, two Crown Courts, eight Magistrates Courts and an approved premises as well as staff on secondment to prisons, the Youth Offending Service and other agencies.

At any one time, Kent Probation is working with around 6,000 offenders. In any given week, around 1,000 offenders (the equivalent of an average-sized prison population) carry out nearly 6,000 hours of unpaid and supervised work for the community across Kent.

Kent Probation is also one of the 35 independent trusts that collectively makes up the Probation Service which was awarded the 2011 Gold Medal for Excellence.

EFQM Recognised for Excellence is part of the EFQM Levels of Excellence programme and is designed for organisations that are well on their way to organisational excellence. It recognises successful efforts to implement excellence and good practice, and offers the benefits of a structured approach to identifying organisational strengths and areas for improvement as well as an external point of view.

'The award is incredibly important, recognising the highest standards of service that we offer communities in Kent, as well as the way we operate as an organisation. A big thank you goes to the team who worked with the assessors to provide the evidence of our success. The 4 star award recognises the professionalism of our staff and the excellence of their work.'
